Ball and Gonzalez Wins by TKO; Ortiz gets the KO & Sosa the UD. RESULTS FROM TWIN RIVER CASINO.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. A total of 5 bouts were held at Twin River Casino. My favorite fight of the night was two pro debut fighters, Marqus Bates vs. Miguel Ortiz. If you have a chance and if you can find it on line definitely watch it.
Middleweights – 4 Rounds: Worcester’s Kendrick Ball Jr. vs. Philadelphia's Demetrius Thomas. It was all Ball during round 1. Ball went to the body got the TKO victory when referee Danny Schiavone called a halt to the bout at 1:40 of round 1. Ball advances to 3-0-1 with 3 Ko’s.
Featherweights – 4 Rounds: Worcester’s Irvin Gonzalez vs. Harrisburg, Penn Mike Heffelfinger. Gonzalez took control dropped Heffelfinger within a few seconds and then capitalized on the weakness of his opponent and landed a fantastic left uppercut on Heffelfinger. Referee Joey Lupino stopped the bout at 1:07 of round 1. Gonzalez wins by TKO and is now 3-0, 3 Kos.
Welterweights – 4 Rounds: Taunton, Massachusetts Marqus Bates vs. Springfield, Massachusetts, Miguel Ortiz. Both making their pro debuts. This is a crazy fight. What a nite. Both fighters came out hard with Bates bringing the fan base with him. Ortiz got dropped it the 1st round by a right as he hit the canvas he sprung up too fast. Bates then gets backed up against the corner ropes and Ortiz unleashes a flurry of punches on Bates and got the count. Ortiz later comes forward and continues on with a flurry of punches. Ref Danny Schiavone stops the bout at 2:43 of round 1. Ortiz wins by TKO. See Ortiz’s post fight interview by CLICKING HERE.
Junior welterweights – 4 Rounds: Adrian Sosa of Lawrence, Mass. vs. southpaw, Lamont White of Washington, D.C. Sosa landed a heavy left hook on White during round 2 and continued on with a body head combination. After the scheduled 4 rounds with Sosa controlling the action all 3 judges scored the bout 40-36 by UD. Sosa advances to 2-0.
The main event was a non New England middleweight 6 round bout and it was an upset.
Fatlum Zhuta of Anchorage, Ak vs Cameron Burroughs of Houston, Texas. Burroughshas ended up with a cut over his left eye. Wow WHAT AND ENDING TO THIS FIGHT. Zhuta controlled the enter fight and Burroughts was brought in at the last minute to take this fight. Burroughs caught Zhuta and dropped him with a left hook to the canvas and danced his way to victory at .23 seconds of round 6 by KO. While Zhuta jabbed his way all the way thru the end of the 5th round.
