The first round of the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions took place on May 1 and 2 at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. The results from the New England Golden Gloves team are as follows:

114 lbs - Felix Parrilla, from New Haven, CT, won a 4-1 split decision over Adel Mason from the Cleveland team.

123 lbs - Nathan Martinez, from New Britain, CT, lost a 5-0 unanimous decision to Yohenry Rosario from the New Jersey team.

132 lbs - Dayshon Smith, from New Haven, CT, lost a 5-0 unanimous decision to Jonathan Rubio from the California team.

141 lbs - Efren Nieves, from New Haven, CT, won a 5-0 unanimous decision over Aadam Ali from the New Jersey team.

152 lbs - Josniel Castro, from Portland, ME, lost a 4-1 split decision to Antoine Cobb from the Chicago team.

165 lbs - Yamarco Guzman from Lawrence, MA, received a bye.

178 lbs - Tayler Mears, from Boston, MA, lost a 5-0 unanimous decision to Gene Puana from the Washington, DC team.

201 lbs - Hampton Miller, from Waterbury, CT, received a bye.

201+ lbs - Fernely Feliz, frm Danbury, CT, won a 3-2 split decision over Ikechukqu Duru from the Knoxville team.
