Welcome Back Oscar Bonilla!!!
Murphys Boxing will be putting on another exciting show in the afternoon on the 24th of February at the Ballroom in Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Connecticut. On the undercard is local lightweight, Oscar Bonilla from Bridgeport, Connecticut. He’ll be taking on Kin Moy from Boston, Massachusetts. Bonilla hasn’t fought in Connecticut since 2015 and I’m sure his fans are looking forward to seeing him back fighting in his home state.
Pattee Mak: WELCOME BACK. Oscar, I know you’ve been on the move. California, Puerto Rico maybe other places in between. What brought you back to residing in Connecticut?
Oscar: What has brought me back, well I’ll have to say my children, family and to finish what I had started. I once said my name will make noise and that’s exactly what I want.
Pattee Mak: I’m very happy that I get to see you once again in the ring. You are fighting Moy from Boston. The two times that he fought, once in December, 2017, up at Plainridge Casino, a casino I still haven’t visited and the other was at Mohegan when he fought Zhimin Wang back in 2015. Did you happen to be at that fight when they fought on the undercard of Chip Perez and Agustine Mauras?
Oscar: Oh wow. You know what Pattee I actually was at that fight, but I really don’t remember seeing him fight to be honest with you. I know nothing about this guy.
Pattee Mak: That makes too of us. Lol.
Pattee Mak: Nothing?
Oscar: Nothing at all. All I know is that I believe he does MMA.
Pattee Mak: I believe you are back training with your dad and Carlos. Anything different this time around since you are back training in the northeast?
Oscar: Yes I am Pattee. I’m back with my Dad, Carlos, and Carlos’ brother Ricky. Different, yes. I’ll have to say that we are training somewhat different because we all know what happen when I fought DeLomba back in July in Rhode Island. We definitely know we can’t leave these fights close to decide, so we are doing things a lot smarter and wiser.
Pattee Mak: Now that you brought up DeLomba, you fought him back in 2016 and lost by decision. A fight that you wanted. Would you take a rematch with him if it was presented?
Oscar: OMG YES I would. Like I said once before we all know how that fight went. I will definitely take a fight with DeLomba, but it won’t be at his weight, it’ll be in mine. 135 not a pound over and in Connecticut.
Pattee Mak: I’m sure a lot of people would want to see a rematch of this bout. So of course I had to ask his manager, Vinny Scolpino of VMS Management his thoughts.
Scoplino: We can get that done for sure. Let’s get Oscar back in and get that rust off and then the sky’s the limit.
Pattee Mak: Oscar, let’s chat about your injury. I’m assuming that kept you from fighting at 100% and where are you now regarding your previous injury?
Oscar: Yes I did have an injury which now is no longer something I should worry about. Thank GOD. I did have to take time off which I hated but now I’m fully recuperated and ready to Rock.
Pattee Mak: What do you want to say to your fans?
Oscar: What do I wanna say to my fans Well Bonilla is Back and ready to go........ another thing Pattee I wanna dedicate my fight to Luis “KO King” Rosa, a warrior I grew up with, a fighter in and out the ring. A man I grew up with. Went to fights with him. As amateurs slept in his house spared hundreds of rounds with.... real shocked about what happened to my brother still trying to accept this is reality, it did happen......as many know Luis Rosa was the man that built me in the ring growing up not just me, a group of us which made us brothers Charles Foster, Nate Green, Edwin Soto, Luis Rosa, Jr and me even thou I wasn’t with Rosa anymore that was something that to me I could forget having four brothers that did it all with me RIP KO King my brother and I’m sure KO King will forever shine because we will shine.
Pattee Mak: Beautifully said. Yes, it was a shocker to everyone who heard the news. It was a very sad day.
Pattee Mak: Thanks for this opportunely to chat with you. I look forward to seeing you on the 23rd.
Oscar: Thank you.
