Portland Boxing Club’s nationally ranked welterweight Josniel Castro, of Westbrook, lost a decision to Joey Borrero of Las Vegas, NV in the Elite Male 152-pound division in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 USA Boxing National Western Elite Qualifiers in Albuquerque, NM on March 8. Castro got a bye in the first round of the tournament on March 6 and won a decision over local favorite Xavier Madrid of Albuquerque, NM in the second round of the tournament on March 7.
